Dear DG,
My brother is gay and he’s still in the closet. He’s been keeping this secret away from our parents for a good year and a half now. I think it’s time for him to step up and just come out. He’s always depressed and sad since he has to keep it as a constant secret. How can I persuade him to come out to mom and dad?
-Paulette, TX

Dear Paulette,
It’s not easy to come out as a homosexual to people including your own family members. Don’t pressure him to come out since it’s going to cause him to bury his secret deeper and deeper. When he’s ready to come out, make sure to support him all the way. But in the mean time, let him come out when he wants to. Let him know that you support him and will always love him.

Dear DG,
My cousin is having a baby shower next week and I still haven’t gotten her anything. I honestly don’t know what to get. She told me she’s having a baby boy so I have some idea on what to get her. My mom tells me I should just give her a gift card or some money but that seems a little bit impersonal. What should I do?
- Kerry, CT

Dear Kerry,
Most likely everyone at the shower will give your cousin some house hold items for the baby (like a high chair) or even some clothes. Why not buy a toy for your little soon to be second cousin? When you do buy a toy, make sure it goes well for his age. Good luck and how fun at the baby shower.

Dear DG,
My dorm is basically like a New York street ally. It’s infested with mice. I’ve talked to my RA about it so the exterminator is coming Monday. What can I do on the mean time so I won’t get sick?
-Kelly, CT

Dear Kelly,
Make sure there is no food in your room, that way it won’t give the mice any reason to crawl over there. Put in a couple of mouse traps and cover the bottom of your door so the mice can’t get in. Keep your room clean and always check for any mice feces since it’s very toxic.
