It
seems like people are treating their Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr like it’s a
nonstop circus show. There’s the usual sad depressing messages, the typical
story of he said, she said and the classic tactic of spilling real life drama
into the Internet world. Let’s slow down a bit and be reminded of the do’s and
don’ts of how to use your social networking site. Let’s use the following Facebook
statuses that I see on my Facebook page as the examples that will be mention.
Do’s
Always Leave a Friendly Message on your
friend’s inbox
Your
friend could be having a rough day. Or maybe they’re sad just because of a
situation they’re in. Putting in a positive message in their inbox will change
their day. From starting out crappy to ending it on a good note, it will make a
difference.
Nothing Wrong with a Good Tease
If
you’re not good at making inspirational, feel good messages; use some humor to
make your friend feel better. Besides, laughter is the best medicine after all.
Don’ts Put Up Your TMI (Too Much Information)
Last
thing anyone wants to read is private facts about your sex life or airing out
your dirty laundry. This also applies to people who like to spill their real
life drama into the Internet world. Social networks should be used to make
connections, not to be used as a TMZ website.
SPAM! SPAM! SPAM!
It’s
bad enough that people get spam in their email. It’s even worse when it shows
up on your Facebook dash, pressuring you to like it just because of the message
or making you share it if you’re truly “a good person”. I mean there’s nothing
wrong with spreading awareness of a cause but try seeing the same thing over
and over again multiple times. It will get annoying.
Remember;
do always leave a friendly message on your friend’s inbox. Do give a good tease
just to make them smile. Don’t put up your TMI and don’t spam your dash like
you have nothing else to put on your status. Follow these simple social
networking rules and you should be good to go on having a good time using your
social website.
