Lavigne’s Vulnerability Makes “Wish You Were Here” More Powerful

“I love, the way you are/It’s who I am, don’t have to try hard/We always say, say it like it is/and the truth, is that I really miss/all those crazy things you said/You left them running through my head/You’re always there, you’re everywhere/Right now I wish you were here…”

Avril Lavigne’s third single; “Wish You Were Here” brings out a deeper emotion that helps to shape up the story of her heartbreak. Her raw vocals with the melancholy melody intensify Lavigne’s vulnerability.

The song is about going through a break up and while suffering through the pain and heartache, the sense of wishing the ex back makes the process of separation a lot harder.

Even with the repetitive lyrics in the chorus, it’s also catchy as well. The lyrics aren’t too deep but it’s enough to cause a reaction to the listeners who will hear this song. This is by far the best single from her “Goodbye Lullaby” album.
