Dear DG,
I feel like I’m back in high school again since these people in my college dorm are so immature. They end up having temper tantrums, run around like animals, and make so much noise it’s really hard to study sometimes. I told the RA about it but it seems like there’s no change at all. I don’t know what to do.
-Reese, PA
Dear Reese,
If the RA isn’t doing anything about it then you should go straight to the RD (residential director) of your building. The RA should be responsible enough to immediately handle the situation.

Dear DG,
I’m like getting uber crazy with all of this studying for mid-terms. Unlike some of my friends, I have five mid-terms back to back. I’m trying not to panic but I really can’t help it and I don’t want to fail. I can’t seem to concentrate so I want to know how you survive your mid-terms.
-Sally, WI
Dear Sally,
The way I study for my multiple exams is this: Study for the ones you know you have trouble on the most. Work on it for an hour, and then go on to studying another one. If you end up getting a headache or start to lose interest then that’s a sign for to take a break. Relax for a good twenty to thirty minutes and then go back studying. Good luck on your mid-terms.

Dear DG,
I’m so stressed out in school and it’s driving me nuts. I tend to be a perfectionist since I’m trying to be at the time of the class. I’m never satisfied with “average” work and I’m striving to do more. I mean I know I’ll never be happy if I keep on raising my standards but I just want to do well so I can be successful in life. I need help.
-Rosemary, CA
Dear Rosemary,
There’s a difference between hard working and simply being a perfectionist. With hard working even when you do fail, you learn from it and still keep on what you doing without any troubles. On the other hand, when all you can think about is being good all the time, there’s no room for you to improve. How can you be the best if you can’t learn from the mistakes you make? Just accept the fact that it’s impossible to be perfect and start off from there.
