Written by Lacey Sturm, Sameer Bhatlacharya, Jared Hartmann, Pat Seals, James Culpepper and Mark T. Lewis, the song "Again" was Flyleaf's first single off of their second studio album Memento Mori.
As the first single, "Again" did fairly well in the Billboard charts. It landed on number 3 in the US Alternative Songs and peaked at number 12 in the US Rock Songs. It also climbed up to number 14 in the US Mainstream Rock Songs and was on number 26 in the US Christian Songs.
"Again" explores the concept of redemption and how even as people sin, God is there to lead us back in the right path and forgive.
"Here you are down on your knees again/trying to find air to breath again/only surrender will help you now/I love you please see and believe again..."
This song has good guitar riffs as they help intensify the tune. It grows more towards the chorus as Sturm, sings out the main message. Lyrically it conveys a religious theme that some fans can relate to when dealing with their faith. Vocally, Sturm does a great deal of vocal range from going from the quiet mellow tone to an all out emotional rock ballad.
This song is three and half out of five stars for having a good rock melody, interesting lyrics and has a good range of vocals.
I LOVE "Flyleaf"! :)
